Primary School Choir

Primary School Choir

At Holy Family College, we aim to capture appreciation and love for choral singing in childrens’ hearts. Choir work also helps children to develop socially, to work together as a team and to have fun together! The primary school choir is proud to have performed at a number of functions throughout the year.
The choir consists of approximately 30 children from Grades 4 to 7 and is led by Mrs Swanepoel. The practice times are on Thursday afternoons from 2:15 – 3: 30.

According to research, participation in a choir has the following advantages for children:
Reduce tension and blood pressure
Improve mood
Improve breathing
Improve learners’ sense of rhythm
Exposure to a variety of music styles
Team building opportunity
Exposure to the discipline of teamwork and the acquisition of repertoire that can provide academic benefits to learners.
We look forward to watching our choir grow and offering a greater opportunity to enjoy music together.
